SMBLA Mountain Bike Instructor Training Courses.
If you would like to lead groups of people on mountain bikes you will need a qualification. Here at 1Bike1 we have been running SMBLA mountain bike instructor training courses and assessments for a number of years now to provide just such a qualification.
The courses we run are Scottish Mountain Bike Leaders Association (SMBLA) Courses. The awards offered are the only National Governing Body (NGB) Awards in the UK with British Cycling being the NGB.
There are two levels of award available, Trail Cycle Leader (TCL) and Mountain Bike Leader (MBL); both awards are valid throughout the UK and Europe. In addition to the above Awards you can attend a Night Riding Module (NRM) which allows you to lead groups at night.
Why Choose Us?
We have been in the cycling business for eight years, leading groups on a very regular basis, teaching and coaching skills, hiring bikes out, servicing bikes, selling new bikes and acting as technical advisors for a number of outdoor education centres and organisations.
SMBLA Courses available through 1Bike1
Jonathan Collins of 1Bike1 (formerly Snowdonia Cycle Hire & Training) has been a registered SMBLA Tutor since June 2006. As well as running SMBLA training courses and assessments for ourselves, we run them for Plas y Brenin, the National Mountain Centre and other centres and organisations. We have built a solid reputation for quality and reliability which only comes with experience.

"Many thanks for making the two day training so enjoyable. Your approach to instruction/teaching is excellent. I spend many hours assessing teachers and Police Trainers in the work place and can confidently say you are up there with the best! My thanks again."
"Wanted to thank you you once again for the TCL course, thoroughly enjoyed it! I have to say it was one of the best training courses I have been on. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone and will do so."
"Well, I'm off to Whistler on 11th May, so thanks again for getting me through the TCL course in one piece!"
