You can only attend a SMBLA Mountain Bike Leader (MBL) Training Course if you hold the SMBLA Trail Cycle Leader (TCL) Award. The MBL is a Level 3 Award and is aimed at leaders who wish to lead in remote and technically difficult terrain.
After attending the two day training course and a successful one day assessment you will be able to lead groups in technically difficult terrain up to any altitude and any distance from safety.
Areas covered in the training include:
- Complex trailside repairs
- Navigating in remote terrain
- Technical riding
- Teaching technical riding skills in different styles
- Situational leadership
- Dealing with emergencies in remote terrain
- Planning, preparation and much more
